The Carcassonne Project
The Carcassonne project is inspired by the charming style of Medieval which in the Middle Ages was the art of designing and constructing buildings. Some of its characteristics that we were inspired of are, the ornamentations, stained glass, arch’s and heavy paintings which interplay between the elements of classical, early Christian, and “barbarian” art. Even though our main inspiration was Medieval, as the space was not large, we had to mix it with a modern style. This mixtures of style allow the space to not feel too overwhelming. The colour palette is white as the modern style suggests it but as well darker colours such as dark brown, black as the medieval current imposed their designs. Using the element of design, each apartment shows charm, vintage and new elements as well as innovations. The key to our design was for the renters to experience practicality with aesthetic. Using the furniture or stained glass to separate areas with different purposes. The multi-functionality of a furniture was also very important to keep the circulation of the space very fluid. To conclude the Carcassonne project was amazing to work between the challenge and the motivation, we believe to have succeed to beautiful environment for renters to experience their daily life.
