"The 3DKnit pavilion, a collaboration project between Jane Scott of responsive knit and Stephanie Chaltiel of MuDD Architects, aims to highlight new fabrication methods that can be applied at an architectural scale."

"Made of recycled colorful yarn, the pavilion was manufactured using 3D knitting. This technology allows to incorporate different aspects of the resulting textiles, including varying materials for the inner and outer face. It can also knit on the same machine bed tubular and plain shapes, incorporate lace patterns and a 3D shape in the fabric(arrowing)."

The team used Re-Diver, recycled nylon, phosphorescent lurex and acrylic yarns for the project. The outer surface looks like a normal red jersey knit construction but uses plating to feed in a blue yarn on the inside which glows in the dark.
